European Magnetic Field Laboratory

Magnetic fields are widely a used tool in condensed matter research fields since a field changes the properties of matter in a very specific way. In many cases the highest possible fields allow the most important discoveries.
The highest available magnetic fields (i.e. substantially higher than commercially available magnets) exist only in dedicated high magnetic field laboratories, which in Europe are in Grenoble (LNCMI-G) and Nijmegen (HFML) providing continuous fields with resistive magnets up to 37T and having hybrid magnets (combining resistive and superconducting magnets) up to 45T under construction.
In Dresden (HLD) and Toulouse (LNCMI-T) pulsed fields (maximal fields in excess of 90T and pulse lengths up to 300 ms) are generated.
All these laboratories make their facilities available to external users. The European consortium EMFL coordinates the European activities for high magnetic field research.

Call for proposals

EMFL User Meeting 2015

The aim of the meeting is to exchange ideas and experiences, to present scientific results, and to discuss about ways of improving the facilities attractiveness.

  • Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Grenoble
  • July 01, 2015
  • Details of the programme will be announced soon.
  • Registration is free
We would like to involve you in the process of defining the meeting's agenda; please inform us of the specific needs in terms of new equipment or facility developments you have today or may have in the future, so that we could provide you with the corresponding information during the meeting. Do not hesitate to suggest any theme you would like to discuss at this occasion.

EMFL User Meeting 2015

EMFL User Committee

The user committee would like to receive feedback about your experience at the high field facilities in Dresden, Grenoble, Nijmegen or Toulouse. We hope you have time to provide us with this feedback information. The data will be handled confidentially by the user committee.
